About
I head Gurgaon Ki Awaaz, a community radio station in Gurgaon, a suburb of Delhi that aims to bring some of the most marginalised communities in this booming town to mass media, and in turn, take mass media to the community. I am an active participant in the advocacy movement for community media in India through the Community Radio Forum of India, as well as AMARC, the world association of community radio broadcasters. Formerly a writer, editor and arts journalist at The Economic Times, as well as co-founder and director of Pitara, a media company for children. Be it print, new media or radio, I have a keen interest in how communities interact and participate in media, and how media in turn supports, subverts or mirrors community practices.
